Every website with some “self respect” have their own fan page on Facebook… Really. Preferably made by fans. Or at least someone from your staff. Well - I don’t have many fans, and no particular staff to talk of - so I had to make the fan page myself.
So - now we have one! [insert Juhuu sound effect!]
Now YOU have a chance to prove me wrong - that SOD has fans. Check out our little facebook home and become a fan today!
Trevor Corson is a fan already. And Eugene Ciurana! [insert Juhuu sound effect again!]
That should be enough name dropping.
Come, come.

Instructables.com is a “web-based documentation platform where passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from and collaborate with others”. So people write, film, make presentations about things they know and love and want to share with others. These “how-tos” are called “instructables”. We of course went looking for those about sushi.

Allison at SushiDay.com is great. Not only is she a full time student, she is also a dancer, a great blogger/writer and an aspiring sushi chef. She is constantly adding to her list of recipes and making it much easier for the rest of us to experiment with new stuff. I have not had much time to make sushi lately, but this summer I will make sure I try out some of her wonderfully sounding ones. Here are some of her latest creations:

This website sounds like it was created as a result of frustration. The creators behind this thought there were so much information about Japanese cooking, cuisine, and etiquette out on the Internet all spread out. They did not want to have to spend time trying to find all they were looking for, so they wanted to gather it and created japanesefood101.com. It is a good beginning. According to them - all their recipes have been tried and tested. I have just peaked.

This website is dedicated to what she calls real food. It has a large section on Japanese food and sushi. It is run by this girl called Makiko (but her friends and family all call her Maki (cute!)). She was born in Tokyo, but grew up all over the place - in various sections of Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture in Japan; in three different places in England; and around the New York City area. She says about the content on her website:

I don’t know if you have tried this feature yet, Google Maps. You probably have - it’s nothing new - but I still think it is a really nice feature! In Google Maps you can search for whatever you are looking for and the search result is then linked to a map. What I did was search for sushi, oslo, norway - and then I get all the sushi restaurants that are registered in their systems tagged with sushi. Here is what it looks like when you search for sushi, london:

Tokyocube is a website for people who are looking for both information about Japanese stuff and also find Japanese restaurants in London.
“Tokyocube was founded in 2005 from a growing need for fresh and fun online information on the ever-more fashionable Japanese lifestyle, as well as tailored services directed at both Japanese and English clients to bridge the gap between the two nations. We have a young and dynamic team of Japanese and English individuals, working passionately to spread the word on Japanese culture in the UK, providing lifestyle features, directory listings, and dedicated Japanese services.”

imakesushi.com is a website that has some nice images, general sushi information together with the typical how to make sushi at home. What I like the most about it is that they have some pictures where they focus (more than normal) on presentation. I want to learn more about that…
Take a look!

This site has an ambitious project going wanting to list all sushi restaurants in the world! They rely on the participation of its readers to keep the listings complete and up-to-date. They use web-based forms to submit and update information about sushi restaurants, and also to submit peoples opinions and reviews about listed restaurants. They say that the Reference currently lists 3,162 open restaurants at 3,357 different locations! Quite impressive! The site started in 1994, but you can also see that it has some problems keeping it up. Several of the locations in Oslo does not not exist anymore for instance. I will send them an update on this. So - if you are looking for something in your neighborhood or want to update with your info, you should check out this site.

Copenhagen is a beautiful city that I soon should visit, and I will try and go by as many good sushi places as possible. We have received one review of Sushi Saiko - the place that several refer to as the best in town so I know which one I will visit first. In addition I have tried to gather some pointers to where you can find out where to get your sushi fill today.

Here is another website I like a lot. The Tokyo Food Page is a complete guide to Japanese cuisine and eating in Japan. With great recipes, tours of Japanese markets, and tips on the best places to eat in Tokyo and Yokohama and it really just makes me wanna go back to Japan!

The Kosher Sushi Club is a group of fresh fish lovers in St. Louis who love good sake, fresh tuna and great friends. All are welcome to join then — you don’t have to be a heeb.
Some of their favorite haunts include Yoshi’s, Cha Yoon, Sansui West, and Rue 13. No greater purpose. Just love of good food and great friends.
