Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are of course into sushi! The Pitt-Jolie family has been in the Chicago area while Angelina has been shooting her latest film, Wanted. After spending some quality time with their children at the Field’s museum, Brad and Angelina decided spend an evening alone together.
They were spotted going on a date to the restaurant Japonais in Chicago where the pair spent some time chatting with the local rap star, Kanye West, who also dined at this sushi restaurant. Japonais is a contemporary Japanese and sushi restaurant which has locations in New York, Chicago, and Las Vegas.

The Nobu chain was a result of De Niro meeting Nobuyuki Matsuhisa at the chef’s first U.S. restaurant in Los Angeles.
“I thought the place was great. I told him, ‘If you ever want to open a restaurant in New York, let me know,”‘ De Niro said. “A year or two later, he called me, said ‘I’m interested.”‘
Nobu started as a business partnership in 1994 between De Niro, Matsuhisa, Richie Notar and Hollywood producer Meir Teper. The first restaurant opened in New York. The chain now has locations across the world, from Italy to the Bahamas. They just opened a restaurant in Melbourne, Australia (August 2007). De Niro said he’s a huge fan of Japanese food, and not just for the flavors. “On top of everything else, it’s healthier for you,” he said. “I don’t see many overweight Japanese, except sumo wrestlers.” We think he sounds like a good fella…

I have not seen this movie, and that Mr. Bean character is not usually my favorite, but here both Rowan Atkinson and Natalie Imbruglia was quite funny. Natalie seems to have been around a the sushi block before… We like.
Ahh. Of course - we knew it! Our yellow friends Homer and his family are sushi eaters. Homer maybe not a huge fan after this episode, but he is a gutsy one. He tries out Fugu! This happens in the episode “One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish”. The plot that leads to disaster (as usual…) is as follows:
Bored with having meatloaf for dinner, Lisa suggests that the family, instead of having pork chops the next night, go to the new sushi bar, “The Happy Sumo”. Homer reluctantly accepts, and the family drives to the restaurant. When they arrive, Homer starts by ordering a few things, but when he discovers that “this fish is delish!”, he eats everything on the menu, including a type of sushi called Fugu.
Well, whats the point just talking about it? Why don’t we just watch it

In Tokyo, there is a sushi restaurants called Kyubei (Kyubey), that is a massive five-story eatery. It resides in the fashionable Tokyo’s Ginza district, and has served fish to Japanese and Western power brokers for 72 years. This is a place where famous people get private rooms with a personal sushi chef slicing up 35 kinds of fish brought in daily from the Tsukiji fish market or directly ordered from all over Japan.
Nicole Richie is another pregnant star being haunted by the media for her sushi habits. Or dietary habits in general. Lack of them, maybe? Well - someone told “Star” that sushi is one of Nicole’s favorite takeout foods.
But celebrity nutritionist (I would love to hear her describe her job…) Christine Bybee, who by the way does not treat Nicole, cautions that sushi could be dangerous to a developing fetus. “She especially shouldn’t eat tuna because of the high mercury levels in the fish,” she cautions. “I’d also avoid it if she breast-feeds.” (Kind of funny statement…I would avoid it if SHE breast-feeds…?)
Daniel Radcliffe, more known as Harry Potter, is our latest claim to sushi celebrity fame. On mugglenet.com, Daniel tells us a little more about himself and reveals secrets like that he speaks Spanish and likes alternative and punk music.
But it is his favorite food we are interested in, where he of course answers “Fish (especially sushi)”! It has magical powers, he might add. Or we did it for him.
He actually also added “or pizza” to his favorite, but we choose to ignore that.

The Crown Prince of Norway loves sushi! I had heard rumors that he and his wife, Mette-Marit, likes to eat at one of my favorite restaurants - Nodee. Proof for him being a sushi lover came from his visit to Tokyo in 2005, where he was a representing Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC).
NSEC is responsible for the arrangement, which is a part of the work to spread knowledge about Norwegian Seafood in Japan. In collaboration with the Japanese consumer organisation Women’s Forum for Fish, NSEC has started a project that will run at several schools in Japan, and the Crown Prince participated in the first class. - I have to admit that I have become very fond of eating sushi, he said.
Ahh. He is my kind of Crown Prince!
Britney Spears apparently have a new favorite restaurant. And it is a sushi place! the chosen place is Bel Air’s SHU Sushi House Unico.
Someone told People magazine that: “She dined upstairs in a private area. She ordered her usual - California roll and a salad. She seemed happy. She just enjoyed the music on the radio, the atmosphere and the food. She was having fun.”
A seriously high profile sushi celebrity this time - Paris Hilton! She had her birthday party at Nobu in Las Vegas where Paris alternatley made out with two guys at the table between bites of sushi. Ooh.
Well, another sushi visit for ex-jailbird Paris Hilton. She stopped by KOI in West Hollywood and apparently caused some serious mayhem there too, according to “That other blog”.
KOI in LA is mentioned often and seems to attract the high profile Hollywood crowd. Does it say something about the food or the hip-factor of the place? It gets mixed reviews on Citysearch.
Sushi made fun of in the movie Analyze that. A mobster (Robert De Niro) and his shrink (Billy Crystal) get together for some sushi — and mischief.
Pills and sake will make you act like a fool, even if you are a doctor…
I am not sure if it was sushi that made the president pass out there back in 1992, but this video shows President Bush becomes ill on a visit to Japan and vomits on Japanese Prime Minister Miyazawa Kiichi. Iiiik.
While the footage was widely seen of Bush recovering from having emptied his stomach contents on the leader of his host nation, the actual moment of puke was only shown once on US television, on ABCNews.
I found it! Another reason to put my favorite comedian on here (who is the reason for the name of this blog). I went to look if I could find if mr. Izzard actually likes sushi. Well, I still am not sure, but he does part of his routine talking about it, which is reason enough for me. Here is a transcript from “Sexie”:
“- But the whole thing I was talking about, the whole superhero thing, the reason is fear. I, I, I try to push fear back, you know as a transvestite, I try to push fear back sure enough, because you know I had fight, you know people give me shit in the streets.
They go “Hey what’s the fuckin___ And all” And I’ve learned martial arts, since I had a big fight about five years ago, I’m now a black belt in SASHIMI. Um which if you know sushi, it is like that but its sashimi, just raw fish.”
Another actor who likes sushi. Vince Vaughn. Ex-boyfriend of Jennifer Aniston, right? And he went to one of the places I actually went to in Studio City - Katsu-ya (not a favorite btw).
Vaughn was spotted drowning out his romance woes at a venerable Japanese eating establishment on Ventura Boulevard, asking, between greedy chugs of sake and bites of unagi hand roll, why it’s so hard to find the love a good woman…
So - he likes his unagi, huh?
The reason why Gwyneth Paltrow got famous as a sushi eater was because she did it while being pregnant.
She was dining with her husband Chris Martin at the New York City sushi bar “Cube 63″ and was seen to ordered a salad and what appeared to be sushi! At a sushi bar - what has the world come to? I know this is thought to be potentially harmful during pregnancy and when she also had some Guinness on top of it - well, it was a good day for the paparazzi’s I guess.
