A study from the US National Institutes of Health and Bristol University that questioned 11,875 pregnant women on their dietary habits found that eating more fish during pregnancy resulted in significant, measurable benefits to the communication skills and social standing of their children seven years later.

Going looking for things related to your hobby can lead you to weird things.
This website makes very nice cut-out illustrations of sushi. Well, I thought they were very cute. Not really that appetizing, but what do you expect from paper? Eh…
Here everyone are invited to “be a part of sushi history and win fantastic prizes!” To take part in the contest you to come up with an idea for a new kind of sushi that includes vinegared sushi rice. Your entry will be judged by the Seven Sushi Samurai based on the criteria of taste, presentation and originality.

The invitations says that you can sample the world’s best of the best sushi in an evening of unforgettable taste sensations… Yummy! I would love to go, but it seems to be temporarily sold out. You can sign up for a waiting list, though. Hmm. Maybe I should…

Now this is the way that sushi instructions should be handed down. Instead of on a computer or through a video, having a good friend that sits down and hand draws for you really how to do it, illustrating it even, so to make it a collectable work of art. One is of making different types of nigiri and maki sushi and the other is of how to make sushi rice. They are just so inspiring!
The Crown Prince of Norway loves sushi! I had heard rumors that he and his wife, Mette-Marit, likes to eat at one of my favorite restaurants - Nodee. Proof for him being a sushi lover came from his visit to Tokyo in 2005, where he was a representing Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC).
NSEC is responsible for the arrangement, which is a part of the work to spread knowledge about Norwegian Seafood in Japan. In collaboration with the Japanese consumer organisation Women’s Forum for Fish, NSEC has started a project that will run at several schools in Japan, and the Crown Prince participated in the first class. - I have to admit that I have become very fond of eating sushi, he said.
Ahh. He is my kind of Crown Prince!
Have I said it before? That I am so tired of bad sushi?
I guess part of the reason why I will not give this place a good review is because I have had a lot of sushi lately. Good sushi. And also great experiences. Here - I greeted them, asked them what they would recommend of todays fish, trying to give this “once a hamburger joint now turn sushi bar” a chance. Mostly because it came recommended. Well, according to the chef, everything was especially good that day, and they could not recommend anything in particular… Hmm. No help there. But - the fish did look quite fresh, so I tried some nigiri of salmon, eel and halibut, together with my tempura maki.

I get very inspired by looking at some of the creations of the sushi chefs, and I think that sushi, when presented well, is art. Just very temporary type art. That is - if you don’t photograph them. I want to get better at that. But - I found these fantastic photos on Flickr from a guy who has made sushi into what you would see in a kaleidoscope! It is just such an adorable idea! Take a look at these absolutely amazing pictures and visit his image stream.
Britney Spears apparently have a new favorite restaurant. And it is a sushi place! the chosen place is Bel Air’s SHU Sushi House Unico.
Someone told People magazine that: “She dined upstairs in a private area. She ordered her usual - California roll and a salad. She seemed happy. She just enjoyed the music on the radio, the atmosphere and the food. She was having fun.”

Organ donation talk is a bit off topic on a sushi website, but sushiordeath.com would like to be a part of the world wide blogger campaign for organ donor awareness.
Are you an organ donor? How about your family? Do you know if they want to be organ donors? Have you talked about it? Talk about it and sign up as one as soon as possible. Then the body parts that might suddenly be of not much use to you - knock wood - but that still healthy organ might save someone else’s life. That is a fantastic gift - you might play the most important role in someone else’s life.
In Australia, more than 1,700 people are waiting for organ transplants. In Latin America, more than 50,000. In Europe and the United States, more than 170,000. In China, more than 2 million. In Africa, there isn’t enough organization to really know. Without an organ transplant, these people will die.

Again - news on that fish and fish oils are good for you!
Women with certain polymorphisms get twice the breast cancer-preventing punch of eating fish rich in fatty acids. University of Southern California researchers who in 2004 found that certain fish oils appear to reduce breast-cancer risk now have discovered that the oils may especially benefit women with a particular genetic makeup.

Her is another of the sushi conveyor belt videos. I think they have chosen beautiful, slow music in the tempo of the conveyor belt, but at the same time - you see the sushi chefs working super fast. I can’t find the original place I found this video, so if someone know, please tell me - I want to credit and link to them. This so makes me wanna go back to Tokyo! Enjoy!

Despite it being one of my favorite fish when having sushi, I have decided to stop eating bluefin tuna. There are two important reasons to why I think we should stop or at least restrict eating it;
- 1) It is overfished and endangered
- 2) It most likely contains too high a level of mercury.

The sushi chart stands out as a sushi website because of their sushi chart. I really would call it a maki chart - because this is a comprehensive list of popular sushi rolls found in most sushi menus and explains the content of these rolls. The list that can be sorted on price, whether or not it is spicy, contains fish or if the main ingredients are cooked. A nice site!

Miso is one of the main ingredients in Japanese cooking. Miso contains a lot of protein and are used as a base ingredient in many types of dishes such as sauces, dressing in addition to Miso soup. Traditionally, miso soup should be at eaten at the end of the meal and not at the start as many Westernes seems to do. Dashi is the soup base to which miso is added to make the miso soup. The final contents of the miso soup depend on the season and family recipe. This one contains a primary and secondary dashi.
-
Preparation: (Serve 4)
- 3 1/2 cups primari dashi or secondary dashi
- 1/2 inch cubes of tofu (bean curd)
- 4 tbsp white miso
- 4 tbsp green onion
- 1 ounce dried seaweed (wakama)
