What?? Ken Kawasumi was doing Kazari maki-zushi IN NORWAY??? Nooooooo… That hurts. I would have loved to be there! Luckily someone videotaped it.
It is almost sushi the Swedish chef is making, and it gives us a small view into how hard it is to kill a (muppet) fish! I sympathize with the swedish chef. Ordiibooordi fishy… Yeah. We pretty much talk the same language. And I think we have some similarities when it comes to cooking too!

This was so cheesy that it cracked me up. It is a sushi roller! And nigiri maker. I have not tried it, so I can’t really be hard on it other than it is not the “proper japanese way” of making sushi.

I found this online image tag viewer while “Stumbling“, where you can externally search for photographs tagged with sushi in Flickr. You can of course search for whatever tag you would like, really. But we searched for sushi. And sashimi. And bento…
Because in addition to getting a gallery of 36 images at the time, you also get to see what other tags are related to sushi in Flickr, and in that way you can dive into whatever takes your fancy while watching beautiful photographs. I was going in loops - sushi, sashimi, bento, lunch, sushi…

What kind of sushi is this???
It is definately not for me.
The latest Eat-Japan Trade Directory Vol. 3 is out. It includes comprehensive information on over 100 top quality Japanese food and drink related products, arranged by category for ease of use. It also contains a glossary of terms, as well as global distributor listing with details of around 250 companies. I think this is written and focused mainly on the UK market, but I have not seen the Directory, so I am not sure.
If you are in the food & drink industry you are lucky - you can get it free of charge (p +p extra). We are in the food and trade business, right?
You can get the book from Eat Japans website:

We found another sushi lover among the stars. This time it is the former Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, who recently also joined the United Nations as a special ambassador. He states in an interview that sushi is his all time favorite food! His brother Aaron like just Roscoe’s chicken wings…
In addition to that Nick says that to serve sushi is his best party tips because — everyone loves it. We hear you and agree!

This website sounds like it was created as a result of frustration. The creators behind this thought there were so much information about Japanese cooking, cuisine, and etiquette out on the Internet all spread out. They did not want to have to spend time trying to find all they were looking for, so they wanted to gather it and created japanesefood101.com. It is a good beginning. According to them - all their recipes have been tried and tested. I have just peaked.

The artist here, ~Zeanu, calls this his infamous Sushi pic.
“Just showin’ me all frollic amidst flying winged sushi rolls… done with ballpoint, touched it up a bit in Photoshop.”
I get the feeling that he is fighting evil sushi in a nightmare. The rolls is not necessarily that evil, their wings are quite friendly looking, but they come off as very aggressive. And he’s not too fond of them. Maybe he has had too much sushi lately?
He made two versions of it. One in color and one in black and white. I like them:
This video is a brief introduction and shows you the initial knowledge you need to have to go to a sushi bar. It covers the topics of napkin, plate, hashi oki, chopsticks, dish for soy sauce. I see at the VideoJugs website that this video has created quite a discussion on what is actually correct and Japanese behavior. I don’t want to call myself as an expert, but I did see several things here that was a bit misleading. But - in general it does give you some initial pointers.
Here are some previous posts on how to eat sushi:
A very short video on how to make sweet pickled ginger or amazu shoga.
But, but, how do you make the sweet vinegar sauce???
I like cakes. Cakes made to look like sushi is even better! This “cake” for instance - is covered in buttercream frosting, it has fondant for the wasabi, chopsticks, platter seaweed and the “fish” sits on top of molded rice crispy treats. The soy sauce is chocolate syrup with a little bit of crushed nuts on top, orange gel frosting for the caviar and the sushi rolls are sliced Twinkies filled with sliced strawberries and kiwis. The outside of the rolls are made of fondant which is then rolled in green sugar confetti for shine. The ginger is colored white chocolate flakes. Fantastic! Great imagination. Here are some more sushi inspired cakes:
