I actually tried this once - to make car manufacturers logos as kazari makizushi. It was not easy, or at least - it was far from the level I am at in making these decorative sushi rolls. Now we are talking. We’ve covered lots of sushi cakes here, but this takes “the cake”!! Elisa Strauss is an actual cake artists and she has a Studio Art degree from Vassar and spent 4 years working for Polo Ralph Lauren. Otaku blogger Danny Choo has created this video showing food he ate at restaurants in Tokyo over the past year. Pay attention to his company for almost all of these meals… Some of them are sushi, but I envy him almost all of the food here. It looks delicious. I really want to go back to Tokyo now… Fun project!

I really thought I had covered his site a looong time ago. It is a must read for everyone who is into sushi, and is one of my favorite references when stuck about how-to something regarding sushi. It is not really a website, more one long document covering it all. Eugene Ciurana, who is the author, might look like a dangerous (although smiley) biker dude, but he is a harmless writer… (!? among a lot of other things, who really knows his sushi. He has contributed with a couple of review comments on Sushi or Death as well, and we are very proud to have him visiting!

I have had Sushi in upscale sushi restaurants in California that was not as good as what I had at Mt Fuji. The tuna is fresh, and the selection of rolls is wonderful. The Volcano roll is covered with an amazing duo of sauces that is heavenly, and it is not deep fried, like others I have had. I recommend the Love Boat.
