We had another go at House of Sushi, this time in their proper restaurant out at Skøyen. The venue is quite atmospheric, and having several chefs behind the counter was promising.
I have to say I was a bit reluctant to go back, and when the waiter took forever to come to our table to take our order we feared that this was not going to be any better experience… but in the end it turned out to be quite good.
We started with having miso soup, beer, sake and green tea. I am fond of japanese ceramics and colors, while here they are more modern with white con Gusto dishware. The green tea was just ok. Sake I am not very good at judging, but I did like it.
After just a couple of minutes they came to our table with a small starter we hadn’t ordered - compliments of the chefs! Maybe they saw that we were a bit annoyed with having to wait around so long to order. I am easily swayed, so then I forgot about them for being a bit slow in the beginning.
This time we made an effort at having lots of things from the menu. We ordered a moriawase menu, together with tempura, softshell, spicy tuna, special, gunkan maki and ponzu sauce sashimi. A feast and beautifully prepared!
Summary:
After a slow start, they made it up to us, and we were quite satisfied in the end.
