A beautiful picture of the Yamada father and son. The photograph is taken by Bruce Osborn, who has a wonderful series of photographs of parents and children called Oyako.

All the pictures in this series are just beautiful, but this was sushi relevant, and thats how I found out about him in the first place. Mr. Osborn has been taking these kinds of pictures since the eighties. This one is from 1984 and is about children inheriting their parents professions. “Often the child inherits the family profession: Parent Jisaku Yamada is a sushi chef, his child Eiichi Yamada, too.” Here is the whole picture. Not sure if I would choose to succeed my father if he was a sushi chef. Is that an approving look?
