Mr. Tang opened in 2006, and I think it is an ok sushi place. Price and service considered. They serve asian food, so you don’t just get sushi here.
We ordered green tea, miso soup, the starter platter of sashimi, tempura maki, salmon maki, spicy tuna maki. The presentation of the food was ok. The miso soup was very tasty and had seafood in it. The sashimi was good. I got shrimps, escobar, halibut and salmon. Their rice was not just sticky, it was almost mushy. The ura maki had sesame seeds - which I like, but the rice was in general not that good. Too sweet, and way too sticky. Something for them to work on.
The service there was great, though. That is always redeeming. We didn’t have to fight for the attention being one out of three tables to wait, but still. We all were charmed by the very nice couple running the store. The guy gave us all we asked for - snacks and lots of gari, no extra charge. We did agree on that we had a nice experience. I think I will go back there.
Summary:
This is a nice sushi place. Great neighborhood place. But not in the league of the best ones.
