My husbands family lives in LA, so we have been paying close attention to the raging fires the past couple of days. Luckily none of our relatives have been in harms way. It is good to see that this disaster is handled better than what happened in New Orleans. There seems to be a great generosity for wanting to help out. Also so among sushi chefs.
San Jose Mercury News reports that Nobu in Malibu, one of Los Angeles’ most famous restaurants “served a buffet of sushi and seafood as the blaze that burned out 4,500 acres started to die down. Manager Darren Kim said the buffet featured sushi, black cod, sea bass, king crab legs and lobster salad—thousands of dollars worth of quality seafood.”
The restaurant served about 50 firefighters on Tuesday. “It’s just something that we could do for these guys who are putting their lives on the line,” Kim said. The restaurant is located near a blockade on Pacific Coast Highway and will reopen for regular business today.
Probably one of these guys best meal ever.
Very respectable!
