Sushi is sweetened rice. Therefor this post is relevant…
And the rice paddies are so beautiful! Each year, in the town of Inakadate in Aomori prefecture, farmers create these crop art works.
They make them by growing a little purple and yellow-leafed kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed tsugaru-roman variety which is what leads to these elaborate art works. Click on the link to the Japanese website ands see also pictures of the rice paddies growing from June 1until the rice is harvested in September.
They have been doing this since 1993. Here are some of their latest pieces, but really - check out the works in the growing as well. Fascinating.
