Sen Nari Sushi is located close to several Japanese car companies headquarters in Gardena, LA. Proper Japanese businessmen needs a good place to get their proper Japanese food, and I have heard that this is their preferred choice in this neighborhood. We went there on a Sunday, and it was full of people waiting in line for sitting at the sushi bar.
We ordered their sushi moriawase chef’s choice, and all but the octopus (which we probably should have said we are not very fond of) we adored! The shrimps were amazing and the fish in general - ah - so yummy! The salmon was the only one that was not that fantastic, but I guess that is pretty much the only fish we get really fresh in Norway, so I am spoiled with good salmon. Then we had a platter of different types of nigiri sushi and spicy tuna maki. In particular their Spanish mackerel was really good. We ended the meal with a soft shell crab maki. This was not my favorite unfortunately. They had put pickled carrot in it that was a bit too stingy in taste for me, but overall - Sen Nari is one of the best places I have had sushi in LA!
It was just fun to be there! Just to sit and watch the chef play around, creating a really light atmosphere, but at the same time serious about their business. Unfortunately we did not get to sit at the sushi bar, but we will try to do that next time. Because there will be a next!
Summary:
A great sushi place! The fish and the feeling was authentic Japanese. A bit expensive and the rolls could have been better made, but the fish was absolutely fantastic.
