I have a problem I need your help with. This specific splog (spam blog) or scraper blog is currently using several of the sushi blogs RSS-feeds (sushiordeath.com, sushifaq.com and sushiday.com) to fill his own website with content. He has never asked me for permission to do this. This is an unfortunate part of RSS-publishing I guess.
You might think that having another “channel” for creating traffic would be good - but it’s really not. For me this illegal republishing of my content makes my Google rating go down, my Technorati authority plunge and also makes me a bit annoyed in general…
So it means I have to add some security steps to my feed to better control and approve who is actually using and publishing my content and for what purpose. This I cannot do while using the Feedburner service. They would not help me prevent this specific website from nicking my stuff, so I am taking the feed home.
What does this all mean for you? You need to change your Sushi or Death feed URL. I am terribly sorry for your inconvenience, but I could not find any other way of doing this. Please visit Sushi or Death in the next couple of days for the new feed URL. We will then make it really hard for scrapers to commit their copyright infringement!

I’m the webmaster for SushiFAQ.com and the Sushi Otaku Blog, and want to thank you for pointing this out. I’ve dealt with many thieves in the past stealing my content, and it’s really too bad that people feel that this is OK. He will be dealt with…. Cheers and good luck.
Hehehe!! I love your solution.
Hasn’t shown on his site yet, but hopefully it will soon! I have now changed my RSS to the new feed.
Warren! I am so proud that you actually came to visit my site too! You and Allison are my two favorite sushi websites to visit, so in a weird way I am kind of proud to have been scammed together with you guys. It kind of puts me in a league I really am not. Hope you stop by again, even though we just do silly sushi stuff…
Allison: He-he. Thanks. I was thinking of giving him a porn feed, but that might have just given him more traffic, and I really don’t think he deserves that. His blog is now getting my new type “sushi content”!
Revenge…. Moahahaha… Did you hear back from him btw?
Heh. The ‘porn feed’ ‘porn feed’ was a good idea, I was considering sending a Goatse feed myself (look it up on Wikipedia if you are unfamiliar with Goatse, but be warned, It’s perhaps the most vile thing I have ever encountered, truly nasty). In the end, I thought It might get to my regular readers and for their sake, I didn’t try to do it. I sent a note to his registrar, but he is either hosting the domain himself or is somehow hiding his domain host. I haven’t heard back, and frankly don’t expect. to. He’s in Ireland, and his registrar is in Canada, so I expect little copyright compliance, but I did the proper legal thing sending a C&D. May I ask what you are doing to protect your feed now? And actually, I’d love to take this discussion off comment, so If you want to email me, that would be great.
I love both of your sites, Allison and Kariknapp, I check them regularly too
In fact, I don’t understand why I haven’t linked to them yet… I’ll have to do that. But I’d love to hear your solution, as I haven’t come up with a good protection scheme yet.
Cheers!
Warren
No… he hasn’t emailed me back yet. I have the feeling he probably won’t. Warren, I’m glad to hear you have sent a C & D… that was going to be my next step. I’ll have to see what else I can do.
Unfortunately it was an email C&D, not a formal letter via post. I don’t expect an answer, but we’ll see. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to modify my RSS feed to protect myself. We’ll see…..
You don’t really need or want that lifestyle, it might hurt y’all slowly more…….Just tell him you
don’t wanna repeat something your not too proud of z7uas.
