I had the pleasure of going to Russia a couple of weeks ago. Here we were taken out to a great restaurant called Terrassa. It was in a high end shopping house called the Ginza Project, where you can also visit boutique like stores before eating.
Before going to Russia I was warned by someone who had had really bad sushi there, so I was quite sceptical. But that was - at least at Terrassa - quite unfounded.
The restaurant opened on July 5, 2007, and according to their website they “represents the first restaurant of a new direction in Saint-Petersburg. They offer open kitchen, democratic service and unforgettable atmosphere of the best sightseeing view of the city.” The view and the atmosphere I have to agree with. You overlook several of the beautiful St.Petersburg buildings and sitting out on the terrasse is really beautiful!
We ordered some sashimi, some pieces of nigiri and a Philadelphia Roll. The fish was very fresh and I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi rice. Someone had told me it was too salty in Russia, but I don’t agree. I thought it was quite good. The roll was beautifully made, but had way too much cheese in it. All in all - the experience was good. And a lot better than expected.
Summary:
Good fish and good presentation. I would go back.
